Valenzano Winery is proud to announce that we will be the featured winery at this year’s New Jersey Renaissance Fair at Liberty Park.  Our award winning Mead Wine will be sampled along with other favorites and new vintages.  We are proud to be offered the opportunity to partner with Liberty Park and the talented staff and crew who organize this magical event.

Welcome to the village of Crossford, home of the New Jersey Renaissance Faire.  There be magic in these woods.  Each year, some hero out of history that stands at a personal cross road is brought by the magic of the ancient forest to Crossford to solve their problems.

Last year King Arthur & His Round Table were threatened by the evil Morgana La Fey who had cursed his knights to pine after his queen.  Merlin brought them to Crossford to save Camelot. 

 Who will emerge from the woodland this year to get a second chance from history?  Come to the New Jersey Renaissance Faire to find out.

In celebration of Mother’s Day Valenzano Winery will be hosting an outdoor gathering at the Courtyard & Vintner’s Pavilion.  Live entertainment will be on stage and plenty of room for relaxing in the Courtyard and watching the grapes grow.  Best of Show Catering will be offering a Lunch Buffet for $15.00 per person.  A variety of crafters and other vendors will be be selling their wares.

Reports to: Board of Directors

Function:  To administratively implement the strategic goals and objectives of the organization, support the Association Membership as well as enable the Board to fulfill its governance function.  To provide direct resources and guidance toward the achievement of the organization’s philosophy, mission, strategy, and its annual goals and objectives.

Purposes
The Garden State Wine Growers Association (GSWGA) is a non-profit organization, incorporated as a New Jersey non-profit corporation pursuant to N.J.S.A. l SA : l-l, et seq.  The GSWGA is governed by a Boards of Directors, Committee’s and supported by the Executive

Director
Its work is funded by dues, fees, and grants.

The vision of the GSWGA is to operate for the purpose of supporting enological, viticulture and economic research to develop sustainable business practices for wine grape growing and wine making within New Jersey.  The GSWGA provides New Jersey’s wineries and grape growers, representing their interests before the legislative, administrative and regulatory branches of the Federal, State and regional governments.  The GSWGA additionally seeks to receive grants and donations for research and education within the wine industry and develop and implement marketing and sales opportunities for Association members.

Functions:
The Executive Director is responsible for administratively guiding the GSWGA and its Members in support of its charter and by laws.
The Executive Director maintains an active and continuous communication and consultation with the Board of Directors to assure consonance of goals, purposes, and directions.
The Executive Director oversees the planning and execution of Board meetings, Member meeting and committee meetings.
The Executive Director is an enthusiastic leader and a committed consensus builder, suggesting innovative programs and activities for the consideration of the Board and Members and administratively implementing those approved.
The Executive Director supports operation and administration of the Association by advising and informing Board members, interfacing between Board and general members, and supporting Board’s fiscal initiatives.
The Executive Director coordinates, facilitates and implements Committee decisions, marketing initiatives, GSWGA brand promotion, festival operations, and contracted services in support of GSWGA activities.
The Executive Director coordinates, facilitates and implements daily communication with Association Members, contractors, State and Federal agencies and other persons associated with GSWGA.
The Executive Director assists in the coordination, facilitation and implementation of annual strategic planning and budget for the GSWGA, garnering support for that plan from the Finance Committee and the Board; facilitating accounting practices and activity reports.
The Executive Director will prepare and monitor the annual/monthly budgets, researching, writing and monitoring grant proposals, and draft yearly program evaluations to manage record keeping, publications and Association statistics reporting.
The Executive Director is required to coordinate checks, notes, drafts, and demands for money and sign checks on behalf of the Association with as required by the Association by-laws.  Coordinate all expenditures with the approval of the Board.
The Executive Director is required to travel in order to execute programs, develop support, and maintain the cohesiveness of the Board and members of the Association.  The position has required in-person appointments as designated by the Board of Directors and may require activities throughout the State of New Jersey.
The Executive Director ensures optimal and efficient use of fiscal resources and provides monthly expense reports to the Board for review and approval.
The Executive Director coordinates a clear understanding of constituents’ research, marketing and educational needs, assuring focused communications, and promoting the value of the organization to the industry and the public.
The Executive Director liaises with other promotional, advocacy, research, and educational organizations that serve the wine industry in New Jersey, regionally, nationally, and occasionally internationally.
The Executive Director shall develop and implement sustainable marketing campaigns to promote the events of the GSWGA, increase traffic to wineries and promote brand preference of New Jersey Wines.
The Executive Director participates in public relations, education and outreach programs; implements creative strategies to increase association followers and expand public awareness of the New Jersey wine industry’s agri-toursim value.
The Executive Director has an affinity for working with a culturally and politically diverse Association membership.  Have the ability to navigate seamlessly within the agricultural, business, and governmental communities.
The Executive Director facilitates the development and implementation of creative marketing and promotions programs for New Jersey wines and the execution of GSWGA festivals and educational events.
The Executive Director actively serves GSWGA members by gaining a clear understanding of their operational needs, providing focused communications for promoting the value of the association to the members, and facilitating recruitment and preservation of membership.
The Executive Director is a consultant who creates an organizational culture of continual interaction with all members of New Jersey’s wine industry.  The position requires effective and enthusiastic professional who supports the industry.
The Executive Director facilitates Board oversight of Association contractor’s by reporting to the Board monthly performance measures and compliance with contracted services.
The Executive Director is a contractual relationship, who is selected and awarded the contract through an interview and proposal process overseen by the Board.
The Executive Director does not supervise any employees.

Professional Qualifications

Required:

1. Previous successful leadership roles at a managerial level in a trade association or related business with similar strategic planning, budget, and human resource responsibilities.
2. Experience in creating and carrying out programs supporting an organization’s mission, familiarity with all aspects of general management, understanding of how to work within State government as well as the dynamics of a volunteer/membership organization, and the skills to leverage the support of an industry.
3. Broad understanding of, and a passionate interest in, wine and the New Jersey wine industry.
4. Demonstrated ability to reach out to others, communicate in a positive manner and be able to balance at times competing interests.
5. A high-energy level which is essential to maintain the enthusiasm for the wine industry and to keep pace with the demands of the position.
6. An undergraduate degree or higher and a minimum of 5years of work experience in related businesses or organizations.
7. Proven skills within fiscal planning, budget development, and generally accepted accounting practices as well as grant drafting and administration.
8. Computer literate and possess interest in electronic communication and coordination of Association members.
9. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and grant writing.
10. Strong conflict resolution and decision making skills.

Preferred:

1. Previous wine industry experience, especially in marketing or promotion, as well as knowledge of winemaking and viticulture practices.
2. Previous experience with advocacy and public policy at the local, state and/or national levels.
3. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated accomplishment as a superb administrator, and may also have practical experience in fields such as accounting, marketing, branding, promotion, public relations, public policy, grants administration, or other areas.

The GSWGA believes that each member and contractor makes a significant contribution to its success.  That contribution would not be limited to the responsibilities outlined above. Therefore, this position description is designed to outline primary duties, qualifications and job scope, but not limit the incumbent to just the work identified. It is GSWGA’s expectation that each member and contractor will offer his/her services wherever and whenever necessary to ensure the success of its endeavors.

The Executive Director’s contract time requirement is a minimum of 25 hours weekly.  Work hours are flexible based on the direction of the Board.  The Contract fee is $30,000 per year.  The Contract with the GSWGA is for a finite period of time and is terminable at any time, with or without cause being shown, by either the contractor or the GSWGA.
